Kitchens
We replace over 450 kitchens a year.
Our Asset Management Team keeps records detailing when kitchens are originally installed or replaced and this information is used to plan when kitchens are due for renewal. The average expected lifespan of a kitchen is approximately 20 years.
Once a kitchen has been identified for replacement:
- a Surveyor will visit your home to plan the new kitchen layout
- you can select your choice of units, door styles, upstands and flooring from the range available
- you will receive notification telling you when we would like to start work
- you will be contacted before the work starts so we can explain what will happen
- the work is usually completed within 5 days
Bathrooms
We replace over 400 Bathrooms a year.
Our Asset Management Team keep records detailing when bathrooms were originally installed or replaced and this information is used to plan when bathrooms are due for renewal. The average expected lifespan of a bathroom is approximately 25 years. All our new bathroom suites are white.
Once a bathroom has been identified for replacement:
- you will receive notification telling you when we would like to start work
- you will be contacted before the work starts to explain what will happen
- we will fit a new bath, a shower over the bath, additional wall tiling, a shower curtain, a new wash hand basin and a new toilet complete with a new seat
- the work is usually completed within 5 days
Heating
We are currently working in properties where the current heating system is becoming difficult to maintain or where parts for boilers may become hard to obtain in the near future.
We are continuing to work to replace heating systems for tenants who have old style electric storage radiators in their homes. We have now included all properties in the programme and have contacted all the eligible addresses. This involves replacing electric radiators with new gas central heating systems in selected properties. This will provide a radiator with a thermostatic radiator valve in every room, and instant hot water. The condensing combination boilers we fit have a band A rating. This means they’re more than 95% energy efficient.
External doors and windows
If your door is due to be replaced you will receive a letter advising them of approximate timescales and asking for their choice of door style and door furniture. A survey will then be carried out to measure the door for production.
There will be a period of up to 8 weeks when you don’t hear from us, whilst your door is being manufactured to your own specification. When your door is delivered to us, we will contact you to arrange for it to be fitted. This will usually be within 7 days of receiving the door.
Fire doors are fitted to flats only.
PVCu Windows
We have completed the replacement of windows to all Council owned properties in the city.
