Safeguarding
How we protect vulnerable adults and children
To report a safeguarding concern for a child or adult, go to our Advice and support page.
We all have a duty to safeguard people from harm. Derby Homes takes this very seriously and all of our staff are trained to identify and report safeguarding concerns.
It is not the role of Derby Homes to decide whether a child or vulnerable adult has been abused. This is the task of statutory agencies that have the legal responsibility. It is, however, everybody’s responsibility to ensure concerns are shared and appropriate action taken.
Our staff have many opportunities to identify potential cases of neglect and abuse whilst undertaking their day to day duties. Staff receive regular training and must follow our Safeguarding Policy at all times, and should report anything they see that makes them uncomfortable or suspicious. If any member of staff has any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child, young person or vulnerable adult they must immediately discuss them with their line manager or a Derby Homes Safeguarding Champions.
Derby Homes Safeguarding Policy sets this out in more detail.
